the visual art of john brandi |

a rare opportunity to view the lush paintings, collages, drawings, hand-colored broadsides, letterpress books, and other visual work of northern new mexico poet john brandi, a national endowment for the arts poetry fellow.

“he has been an open roader for much of his life,” said san francisco poet laureate jack hirschman of brandi, “and like his two great forebears, whitman and neruda, has named the minute particulars, the details of his sojournings…infusing them with a whole gamut of feelings–compassionate, mischievous, loving, and righteous.”

and from brandi’s “a question of journey”:

“step away from the familiar, let the unpredictability of the road shake your beliefs, find a new path back. along the way become somebody else.”

Hello Daria- I recently moved to Carson, and Scott Stephens brought me in to your cafe and introduced us. You’ve got a great space and great food- I had the best vegie sandwich ever there- keep up the good work!

I also know Mimi Chen Ting from Sausalito- we had art studios in the same building till I brought all my stuff to Carson last June, (small world).

I’m currently having a show at Taos Professional Suites, 515 Gusdorf, through March- stop by if you get a chance. I’m also represented by Envision Gallery. I’d love to show in your space, and would like to know your reviewing process is for artists.

Thanks, and I’ll be back again for more good food!
Elizabeth
